Thanksgiving for Light
(Genesis 1:3-4)
God said, “Let there be light”;
and there was light. And God saw that the light was good.
(Job 12:22)
God uncovers the deeps out of darkness,
and brings deep darkness to light.
(Psalm 27:1)
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
(Isaiah 9:2)
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light;
those who lived in a land of deep darkness—on them light has shined.
(Revelation 22:5)
In the end, there will be no more night; we will need no light of lamp or sun,
for the Lord God will be our light and will reign forever and ever.

Prayers
Let us pray,
During the pause at the end of each bid, feel free to add your prayers silently or aloud.
We pray for the church, its leaders, those who are persecuted, and those whose lives witness to Christ at work in the world...
God of mercy,
Hear our Prayer
We pray for our world, for places where fear, inequality, and injustice lead to violence, in all places, send your reign through wise leadership and humble service...
God of mercy,
Hear our Prayer
We pray for the earth, for seasonable weather that produces an abundance for all, for a sense of wise stewardship of resources, and thanksgiving for all of your creation...
God of mercy,
Hear our Prayer
We pray for this community, our schools, elected officials, first-responders, and all who work to provide us with daily bread...
God of mercy,
Hear our Prayer
We pray for those in need of prayer, the sick, the dying, and those who struggle in any way...
God of mercy,
Hear our Prayer
We pray for ourselves and for all that we need from day to day...

Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Blessing
Let us bless our God.
